Why We Need a New Cardiac Ultrasound
The current Philips EPIQ 5 Ultrasound Machine was purchased in 2015 and has a lifespan of 7 years. Ours is 9 years old and has reached the end of its service window. The EPIQ 5 lacks the latest updates and is out of warranty, creating additional costs to operate.
Replacing the old, out-of-warranty and end-of-functional-life unit with a new Phillips EPIQ CVx unit will provide EPH patients with a much more comfortable and efficient experience.
What is Cardiac Ultrasound?
Cardiac ultrasound, also known as echocardiography, is a non-invasive imaging technique using high-frequency sound waves to visualize the heart's structure and function. It is vital for diagnosing, monitoring, and managing various cardiovascular conditions, including during cancer treatment.
Benefits include:
- Detecting congenital heart defects, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and cardiac tumors.
- Evaluation of cardiac function, including ejection fraction, cardiac output, chamber size, and wall thickness.
- Tracking changes in cardiac structure and function over time.
- Guidance during procedures, such as cardiac valve surgery and cardiac catheterization.
- Monitoring cardiac function before and during chemotherapy, offering timely evaluation of risk and cardiotoxicity during treatment, as well as long-term function post-chemotherapy.
This new system will provide photorealistic 3D imaging, a user interface specifically designed for cardiology, more comfort, updated security, and enhanced workflow productivity for the most utilized procedure within the Estes Park Health cardiac clinic.
